Crates of the Ancestors is an independent archive and cultural platform preserving, documenting, and circulating Black material culture through records, books, ephemera, sound, and memory.

Founded by Mekhi McKenzie, Crates of the Ancestors is a Brooklyn based archival project, cultural platform, and shop focused on Black music, publications, records, books, and ephemera. The project sources, preserves, documents, and recirculates cultural objects while creating space for research, listening, collecting, and discovery.
